Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert my hourly wage to an annual salary?

To convert an hourly wage to an annual salary, multiply your hourly rate by the number of hours you work per week, then multiply by the number of weeks you work per year. For example, $25/hour with 40 hours/week and 52 weeks/year equals $52,000 annually ($25 x 40 x 52).

Why would I change the weeks per year setting?

The default is 52 weeks, but you might want to adjust this if you have unpaid time off. For example, if you take 2 weeks of unpaid vacation, you would use 50 weeks to calculate your true annual earnings. This gives you a more accurate picture of your actual income.

What is a bi-weekly pay period?

Bi-weekly pay means you receive a paycheck every two weeks, resulting in 26 paychecks per year. This is different from semi-monthly pay (twice a month, 24 paychecks per year). Many employers use bi-weekly pay schedules.

Does this calculator account for taxes?

No, this calculator shows gross pay conversions only. It does not deduct federal, state, or local taxes, Social Security, Medicare, or other withholdings. Your actual take-home pay (net pay) will be lower than these figures.
